Scary Recipe Monday from Molly MacRae

It’s another Scary Recipe October Monday and Molly MacRae sent in this fabulous photo and recipe. If you really want me to type that recipe out I can, but look at the ingredients. Fruit cocktail, mayonnaise, whipped cream. Set in a can. Ugh. I have an entire genre of recipes set in a can. Do you have one you have eaten? Tell us about it. Don’t forget to leave a comment this month to enter our prize giveaways, too!

This makes my stomach lurch a little. What were people thinking? I can’t imagine that this was any good or anyone would even want to try and make it. Do you have any idea why there were such strange recipes as this?

  3. Kimberly says:

After looking at this, and considering it for much too long — I think that these kinds of recipes seem strange because of a seemingly random, incompatible ingredient . . . Mayonnaise! If someone substituted perhaps sour cream for the mayo, somehow it’s less repulsive. Note, I said “less” repulsive . . . I did not say appetizing. Particularly, I love that this recipe calls for two sizes of marshmallows. One is simply not enough. All kidding aside, what really gets me is how it looks. All those chunks in the fluffy, pink base make me think of something truly offensive . . . . HEAD CHEESE!

  4. Molly says:

The sad thing is, I know exactly how this tastes because somewhere, at some time, someone’s mother must have made it. Not my mother, I’m pretty sure, but eeeuw. Kimberly is right – chunks! And pink! Ugh, ugh, ugh!

And you’re supposed to EAT it frozen? This recipie just boggles my mind.
