I am going to be skipping Retro Crafting next Friday as I am part of a very special blog tour. It’s going to be wonderful, but I wanted to put in my shamrock and Easter egg placemats before the high green holiday next weekend.
I made these designs up. I drew the patterns, cut the easter egg in three (and added seam allowances), added batting in the middle of the three layers, sewed, turned, pressed, hand sewed the opening. Make the shamrock stem wide enough for easy turning, and don’t forget to clip the corners so they will be squared when you turn them. I have a tube turning device, but you could do it by hand and push a knitting needle or dull pencil in there to bring out the corners.
The Easter eggs are great for quilting scraps, and each one could be different. Cut four tops out of four different fabrics, cut in three together in a pile, then switch up the pieces.
