Handwritten Recipe Wednesday: Cracker Jack

Happy October! This seems like a good Halloween type recipe. I can’t tell what the name is on the corner – maybe Vanae? At any rate, enjoy this tooth breaker!

3 qts. popped corn

1/2 cups roasted peanuts

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup molasses

1/2 cup water

1/4 tsp. salt

1 tsp. vanilla

1 T vinegar

1/4 cup butter

Crisp corn in a moderately oven. Scatter nuts over top of corn. Boil remaining ingredients except vanilla, vinegar & butter. Boil until soft ball is reached then add butter, vanilla & vinegar. Cook until light cracked stage is reached – 260F. Pour sirup (as is) over corn. Toss with wooden spoon until covered with sirup.
